Beware!

Sweeney Todd Has Come To Greenville?

Say what? That's right. I am rather excited to inform you that Sweeney Todd, movie by Tim Burton which was based upon the original play Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street by Christopher Bond, has officially been casted for Mann Show at J.L. Mann High School in Greenville, SC. It will be our Spring production and is in the works. Students received their casting roles on Tuesday, March 09, 2010 and the first cold read-through is this afternoon.

EEEEEEEK, hope someone brought snacks. Oh wait. I did. :)

At first word of this, I must say, I was a tad bit worried we wouldn't get approved. In the Bible Belt HIGH SCHOOLS, the wqhole gorey scene isn't that highly looked upon by the adul;t society. Upon hearing that it WAS in fact approved by our principal, we students went to work. We have currently been watching the movie in order to get a feel for it and the auditions were a blast. We had quite a number of people try out and were sad that only a few were able to be given main speaking parts.

I, however, was given the part of AnthonyHope. "As his name suggests, throughout the play, Anthony is a cheerful, optimistic, country born young ship's first mate. He is a loyal friend to Sweeney, whom he courageously saved from drowning. In his determination to save the woman he loves, he faces threats from Judge Turpin and the Beadle, which include incarceration. His innocence emerges, however, when he is unable to shoot Mr. Fogg." I really hope all of you can make it! I will post dates of when the play will be open to the public eye in the near future. (:

have a great day, everyone.
